Fundraising By Our Community

For more information about the services of Wetherby & District Foodbank, please visit: https://wetherbyanddistrict.foodbank.org.uk/give-help/donate-food/

Please remember, we ask families to donate what they can and there is no pressure placed on students to bring items if they are unable to do so. Thank you!

We have launched our annual CHRISTMAS HAMPER APPEAL in aid of Wetherby & District Foodbank.

Students have heard that in the last year, food banks in the Trussell Trust’s network provided 18,344 three-day emergency food supplies and support to people in crisis across Leeds and the North West. Of these, 6,352 were distributed for families with children.

How can we help?

1) This Christmas, we are asking all students to support our appeal by bringing in items to donate.

2) Each form has been tasked with creating an original food hamper – they are encouraged to be as creative as possible. This is a HOUSE COMPETITION so the winner and runners up will be awarded extra house points.

3) Donations and hampers should be complete for 10th December when Wetherby & District Foodbank are coming to TGS to judge and collect our hampers.

Tadcaster Grammar School is so much more than a secondary school.  It plays a big part in the wider community in and around Tadcaster, and has ever since Owen Oglethorpe established the original school in 1557.

We are proud that our students enthusiastically take part in the many fundraising opportunities TGS offer them – taking part in activities and raising money for a variety of charity events and organisations – locally and nationally.  Over recent times we have been overwhelmed by donations made by our students’ families in aid of:

  • Wetherby & District Foodbank
  • Comic Relief and Sports Relief
  • Cancer Research
  • Breast Cancer Research
  • MIND
  • Dementia Forward
  • Autism Awareness
  • and so many more,,,

Our amazing House Champions and School Council make the difficult choice of which charities we support and help run many of our fundraising activities.

Wetherby & District Foodbank are a favourite each year as we collect for Christmas Hampers – each form are tasked with the challenge to make a fantastic Christmas Hamper:  the results are always creative and filled to the brim with generous donations.

With so many of our students taking part in Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme each year there are always many of our students volunteering within charities and organisations in and around the local area.  They get so much enjoyment from giving to their community, and learning new skills that they can draw upon in the future.

Please email fundraising@tgs.starmat.uk if you would like more information on our fundraising activities, or can offer volunteering opportunities to our students.  Thank you.

We are aware that not everyone is in the position to donate to every charity event and are grateful for any donation.  Thank you to our fabulous students, staff and community for their on-going generosity both in time and donations – you really are your best selves!
