Key Stage 4 Options

The time is fast approaching when we ask students in Year 9 to choose their optional subjects to study during Years 10 and 11 (Key Stage 4). We look forward to being able to guide you through this process which will, for many students, be the first major life choice they will make. To help the students in this decision-making, we have produced an information booklet which your child will shortly be receiving from their tutor (A digital version is available below).  Subject teachers will also be delivering presentations in lesson time which provide information about their courses at Key Stage 4. Please encourage your child to spend some time reading through this information, so they are clear about the options open to them and fully understand the nature of each course. I would also like to invite you into school on Thursday 9 January for our Year 9 Parents’ information evening, which will include a presentation that will help explain the options process, and provide some clarity about the types of courses available to students. From 5pm, a number of Year 10 and 11 Students will be available to talk about their own experience of the process, and the subjects they chose to study, with presentations from staff commencing at 5:45pm The should speak to their tutor and subject teachers if they have any questions, and consider very carefully before completing the options form.
