Year 9 information

Welcome to the Year 9 Information page for Students, Parents and Carers. We hope that you find these resources useful. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you to those parents/carers who joined us for the Information Evening. The PDF below shows the slides used to support Miss Higginson and Mr Dunphy’s presentations and include information on the Key Stage 4 Options and the support available for all TGS students.

Key Stage 4 Options:

Year 9 students have recently heard all about the exciting prospect of choosing their subject options for KS4 (Years 10 and 11). There are many GCSE and other qualifications available to them, and we encourage students and their families to take time to look through the Options Booklet before making their final choice.

Please remember to choose subjects that you enjoy, or need for future career goals, do not make choices based on what your friends are looking to study, or whether you like a specific teacher.

Options can be submitted by completing the Option Form (click here for the form).

Vaping and the Law

Here is the presentation made by PC Woods and PCSO Bug to our Year 9 students, we are sure you’ll find it informative and useful when discussing this important matter with your young people. (Please click here to view the video shown to students within the presentation)

This term, ‘Tad Passport’ was launched to our KS3 students (Years 7-9).

The ‘Tad Passport’ highlights many of the opportunities available to each student, but sometimes it is hard to keep track of what they’ve taken part in or achieved! The ‘Tad Passport’ can be used to see what is available and then set personal goals and exciting challenges that:

  • Aid personal development
  • Support wellbeing
  • Stretch talents
  • Provide new experiences
  • Improve future prospects
  • Raise aspirations
  • Broaden horizons
  • Allow opportunities for new friendships and connections

We encourage students to use their annual ‘Tad Passport’ to track successes throughout the year. The presentation that students received is shown below:
