October is reading month at TGS!
Dr Thorp launched a fabulous month of activities to all students during assemblies each day starting 29th September until 3rd October.
This month, students have been exposed to poetry, novels, quizzes, assemblies and form time activities designed to strengthen their love of reading. Students have been told about the educational and career benefits of reading and have been encouraged to discuss reading choices with their teachers and our librarian, Mrs Brett. KS3 and KS4 Reading Lists have been made available to all of our students, whilst KS5 pupils have been given input about the importance of wider reading for their future lives.
In short, studies show that reading is the single most important thing that students can do to improve their life chances and overall prosperity. Finally, we have an Extreme Reading Challenge and a creative writing competition which will end shortly. Pupils can win a prize for their amazing efforts.
